Oooops / Mother’s Advice

I hesitate to post anything today because I think I did something really stupid last night in trying out our new blogging page.

First I did something cool, you may notice I changed the background picture at the top of the page. This is a picture I took while visiting the Dale Chihuly glass exhibit at Phipps last year. I love it and it’s my wallpaper on my home computer.

So I got brave in trying out our new system and there’s a little place that tells you to upload a photograph of yourself and it’ll post your picture somewhere.  So I searched my home computer for a shot of myself.  I couldn’t find anything! My home computer is only filled with pictures of my family.  I’m always behind the lens. Zach loves taking pictures… but it looks like I always delete the ones of me. So finally I found one picture Zach took of me while we were on our trip to Washington, D.C.  It’s terrible…. but I uploaded it to see if I could do it with the plan I’d erase it right away… and when I got to work I’d get a publicity photo of myself and use it.

But after I followed the instructions on the screen…. a message popped up that said “you’ll start seeing your photo soon as you blog.”  Great., I did it!  Then uh oh. I lost it. I can’t find the photograph or, more importantly, the instructions on how to delete it.

So as I start posting…. or responding to your emails…. or just randomly…. you may see a TERRIBLE  EARLY MORNING PHOTO of me.  (I’m sure Jake Ploeger will start searching my blog asap to find my photo and send it out before I can erase it.. ha ha ha ha ; ) …… )  But please do your best to ignore it.

The other thing I wanted to share is something my mother sent me.  It’s advice on an interesting way to protect yourself in your home.  Keep your car keys beside your bed and if you hear someone breaking into your house at night… hit the emergency alarm on your keyring.  (I think you should try it out first to make sure the signal gets from your beside to your car… mine works).  The email went on to say it’s also a way to get help if you can’t reach the phone in a medical emergency.   Of course, you’d have to have neighbors willing to call the police or come over and see what was happening. But I think that’s interesting advice. Thanks Mom!

Ok. Well, I’m going to hit the publish button on this blog since I don’t see my strange photo anywhere on this page…. here’s hoping it doesn’t pop up after I click.
