Wendell August Tour

We drove up to Grove City this weekend with our friends and went to the behind-the-scenes tour of Wendell August.

The craftsmen there forge aluminum and some other metals such as bronze and sterling silver into beautiful things.

They also hide their initials on each piece…. and we had fun trying to find them.

We watched some of the workers in action.

It’s amazing how much work goes into each piece.

Then, the kids all got the chance to make their own works of art.

They placed some tin on top of a cast and hammered away until the design showed up on the tin.

It seemed Zach liked this part the best.

Their creations are now displayed in their rooms.

We also loved meeting the talking parrot, Wendy!

Here’s the website if you’d like to see their work or take a tour yourself
I bought some things with a dogwood pattern on it. It matches some of my china which also has dogwood blooms on it so I can’t wait to show it off.

We also bought the kids a bookmark… and I’m planning to order some Christmas ornaments…. and I’m eventually going to find an excuse to buy the serving platter with the skyline of Pittsburgh on it…. and I love that basketweave pattern….

Wendell August is a big supporter of Project Bundle Up and it was at the telethon that I heard they gave tours. Thanks for the fun day and I look forward to seeing you again soon!
