Stair Climb

Do you have any idea how hard it is to climb 1080 steps?
But my co-workers and I had a great time doing it for a great cause.

Here you see: Ashley Diparlo, Andrew Stockey, me, Roberta Petterson(our assistant news director), and Sally Wiggin.
The American Lung Association sponsored the event in which we climbed to the top of One Oxford Center downtown. Not only does it raise money for people with asthma, lung cancer and other breathing problems…. it also gives you the sensation that *you* have a lung problem while you’re gasping for breath climbing up the steps.

A group of Pittsburgh firefighters joined us…. but they ran up the steps with their oxygen tanks on! I have no idea how they finished but they did!

Here is the organizer: Laura Flister from the American Lung Association.

Finally, here is the worst picture Sally and I have ever taken…. ha ha ha…. she’s going to kill me for including it. But I wanted to brag about her for a second. She volunteered to come help us but she had to continuously monitor herself because of her heart condition. She did great and was awarded the “Little Engine That Could” award for her effort.

This was the first year for the event…. and next year is sure to be bigger and better and we hope you can join us!
